A military satellite was lifted into orbit by a Titan 34D, the Nation's largest untended booster rocket. The launch from California's Vandenberg Air Force Base was the first successful launch of a Titan 34D rocket since February 1985. (C Trib, Oct 28/87; LA Times, Oct 27/87; W Times, Oct 28/87)
