The Raven solid fuel rocket was developed at the Rocket Propulsion Establishment in Westcott England in the mid-1950s. It would provide the first stage engine for the Skylark sounding rocket and in a modified version would be used for the Canadian Black Brant sounding rocket. The fuel was a composite of polyisobutylene and ammonium perchlorate and ammonium picrate. In its early version it provided an Isp of 177 seconds. The motor weighed 2,200 pounds.
