Albert P. Loening, developer and manufacturer of the first successful amphibian plane-the Loening amphibian-in 1923, died at the age of 88. He had been a founding stockholder and director of Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corp., now Grumman Corp. (NYT, 15 Sept 74, 59)
