DOD announced Chaney and James Construction Co., Inc., was being awarded $3,884,955 contract for test facilities at NASA Manned Spacecraft Center. Army Corps of Engineers awarded the NASA-funded contract. (DOD Release 695-64)

James J. Kramer, research scientist at NASA Lewis Research Center, was named Project Manager of large (260-in.) solid-propellant rocket motor demonstration project at LRC. (Lewis News, 9/25/64, 1)

DOD announced Aerojet-General Corp. was being obligated $1,109,000 increment to previously awarded contract for development and fabrication of Titan II propulsion system for Project Gemini. AFSC/SSD awarded the cost-plus-incentive-fee contract. (DOD Release 695-64)

U.S. Army awarded one of its largest single contracts, worth nearly a third of a billion dollars, to Western Electric Co. for continued development and testing of Nike-X missile defense system. The cost-plus-incentive- fee contract for $309,664,200 was to cover work on the system from Oct. 1, 1964, to Sept. 30, 1965. (DOD Release 694-64)
