Rev. Dr. Leitch

23 July 1860

My Dear Sir and ????

I write merely to say that I mean to start from this about the beginning of September. The route I shall take will depend much upon the time I require to be at Kingston. If I require to be there about the beginning of October. I would go by Boston and from there to Kingston direct. If my duties do not require me to be at Kingston til November, the opening of the theological classes. I would likely go by Quebec and spend a sabbath there and another at Montreal. But if I require to hurry on without stopping I would prefer the other route, would you say how I should do with my luggage, will bring with me 6 or 7 hundred volumes. Can I bring this with my personal luggage by railways.

Dr Cook wrote me about my duties. He did not question when my introductory lecture would be. I suppose it will not be till all the students are assembled. Would you let me know when it is expected to be delivered. I mean to go by the Cunard line if I go by Boston. I expected to have a visit of Mr Barnet or Mr Nichol and to get from them some useful hints about the voyage but though I wrote to Mr Barnet some months ago there had as yet no reply. I suppose he is not at present in Scotland. Please write to me at your earliest convenience as I must continue preparations immediately. I am depending on you securing rooms in the house you mentioned.

??? Yours ??? William Leitch
