City of the Rocket Horde a science fiction story by American Interplanetary Society founder Nathaniel Schachner appears in Astounding Stories magazine.

Volume 4 #2 of the Journal of the British Interplanetary Society is published in London. This issue is edited by Edward John Carnell. This is the first issue published in London. The society had earlier agreed to move main activities to London in search of a larger membership. At this point A.M. Low is still President with Cleator and L.J. Johnson (both from the Liverpool branch) holding the two vice-presidential positions. The move to London was suggested by new member J.H. Edwards who was swiftly elevated to Research Director. Artist and Organising Secretary R.H. Smith contributes an essay entitled, "Policy of the BIS" in which he explains the motives for moving the society to London. In the same issue is a report from the Technical Committee about their experiments with different propellants. A.C. Clarke introduces a report from France by Robert Lencement about an exhibition of rocketry he had recently staged at the Paris International Exhibition.
