First U.S. airborne infrared tests by USAAF.

The first post-War issue of the Journal of the British Interplanetary Society is published. It is edited by Alan Edward Slater. In the editorial it makes note that the two warring factions had produced the V-2 and atomic fission and that the two technologies now needed to be harnessed for space purposes.


Kenneth Gatland chairman of the CBAS and now co-founder of the renewed BIS continues his summary of rocket propulsion in Practical Mechanics magazine. In this issues he talks about ground to air missiles. Also an article on the experiments conducted by the BIS.
