NASA Nike-Apache sounding rocket with sodium-vapor payload was launched to 106-mi. altitude from Thumba Range, Trivandrum, India, in joint effort of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and Physi­cal Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, India. Rocket performed as predicted, sodium ejected as predicted, and temperature and turbulence measurements Were made with ground-based cameras and instrumen­tation. (NASA Rpt. SRL)
