Apollo 15 Astronauts David R. Scott, Alfred M. Worden, and James B. Irwin were received by Vice President Boris Bakrac of the Assembly of Croatia and met with President of Yugoslav Academy of Sciences and Arts, Dr. Grga Novak, during two-day visit to Zagreb, Yugoslavia. Astronauts were touring Europe to discuss Apollo 15 mission with scientists. (FBIS-Yugoslavia, 2/4/72, 112)

Requests for participation in Skylab Student Project [see Jan, 3] had increased to more than 80 000 from some 15 000 in early January, NASA announced. (NASA Release 72-19)

Washington Evening Star editorial supported space shuttle development: "Congress should go along with this proposed investment, knowing that if the country's highly efficient space organization is killed, it will not easily be revived, There is still much work to be done on those peaceful cosmic frontiers that can spread many benefits and much inspiration on this troubled earth." Senate Committee on Aeronautical and Space Sciences favorably reported H.R. 11487, bill that would authorize sale of land at Kennedy Space Center for Chapel of the Astronauts. (CR, 1/26/72, D28)
