Secretary of War Patterson approved plan to bring top German scientists to United States to aid military research and development. Small group of German rocket specialists brought to United States under Project Paperclip to work on missile development at Fort Bliss and White Sands Proving Ground.

Navy BuOrd established Guided Missiles, Jet Propulsion and Countermeasures Section in its Research and Development Division.

“Your New World of Tomorrow” article appears in National Geographic Magazine

Kenneth Gatland chairman of the CBAS and now founder of the renewed BIS continues his summary of rocket propulsion in Practical Mechanics magazine. He also calls for the formation of a national space society. He also discusses the pre-war design for the BIS lunar spacecraft. Chairman of the BIS Professor Low also contributes an article.
