The British Interplanetary Society and the Midlands Branch of CBAS meets at 2.30 pm at Birmingham University Edmunds Street chaired by G.R. Richardson. Eric Burgess and Arthur C. Clarke attend to explain the goals of the future combined British societies. Clarke then delivered a lecture entitled "Problems of Space Flight." Clarke concentrated on efflux velocity, staging and mass ratios to prove the viability of a space launch. 24 members attended the event.
